The Wednesday star is in talks for a major role in Beetlejuice 2, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.
She is expected to play the daughter of Lydia Deetz, played by Winona Ryder in the 1988 original.
If cast, she will join a returning Michael Keaton and director Tim Burton, who is still in talks to helm the project.
Burton previously worked with Ortega on Netflix's hit Addams Family spin-off series.
The Warner Bros. production is expected to shoot in London very soon, with sources telling THR that a late May or early June start date is on the cards, so expect more major casting announcements in the coming weeks.
Rumours have circulated that Ryder and Catherine O'Hara (who played Delia Deetz) will also star in the sequel, but these are yet to be officially confirmed.
Until then, you can see Ortega in Scream VI, which arrives in UK cinemas this weekend.
A second season of Wednesday, which will also see her reunite with Burton, has previously been announced as being in development too.
