We finally got a glimpse of Thor's latest outing in the new Thor Ragnarok trailer, which is proving to have a more fun and lighthearted tone in comparison to the last two movies. This new direction can be attributed to a brand-new director, Taika Waititi- who previously directed indie comedies such as What We Do In The Shadows and The Hunt For Wilderpeople. The aesthetics of the movie take it up a notch, too. We now see a vast array of colour in the Thor universe, and that's part of the new Flash Gordon/60's Science Fiction aesthetic that the film is heading towards. We've spotted some little flashes of greatness in the trailer- and listed them below. Not seen the trailer yet? Check it out here!

Valkyrie
Valkyrie is a Marvel character that we have not seen onscreen yet, so her inclusion in the trailer, depicted by Tessa Thompson is incredibly welcome. It seems that Valkyrie will be teaming up with Thor in this movie in order to defeat Hela, after the shattering of Mjolnir and his subsequent displacement on other planets. It's possible that Valkyrie might turn up in Avengers: Infinity War alongside our team of heroes, imagine how sweet it would be to see a huge flying Pegasus among the Avengers?
Heimdall Is Back With a New Look
You might recognise Idris Elba's in Thor, he played Heimdall, guardian of the Bifrost, however now we see him out of his gaudy golden garb and into something a little more dishevelled. With Asgard being destroyed, it's possible that Heimdall might have some tribulations of his own to go through in order to find Thor and restore order to Asgard. Nevertheless, Heimdall is one of the coolest characters in the Marvel Cosmic Universe, and we can't wait to see what role he plays in Thor: Ragnarok.
Thor's New Groove
Thor- is that you? Where's the squeaky clean golden ponytail? We hardly recognise him! His armour is dulled, he doesn't have his iconic hammer, and someone's definitely gone at his face with a highlighter. Thor's new look shows the ruler of Asgard in a different light, out of his comfort zone and looking a little more vulnerable than ever before. did we mention he has a pair of awesome looking swords on his back now? I think we're starting to like this new look for our hero.
Hela On Earth
In the opening shots of the new Thor Trailer, we're introduced to Hela, our brand-new villain for the movie. We not only see her destroying Mjolnir, but also that they're on Earth. If you pause correctly, you'll see ladders and more from the blast- meaning that Thor and Hela were both on Earth (presumably) before the battle for Asgard.
A New Elder Of The Universe
We've seen another of the elders of the universe in The Collector, played by Benecio Del Toro in Guardians of the Galaxy, a The Grandmaster, who enjoys playing games, as we can see in the Thor: Ragnarok Trailer when he pits The Hulk against Thor- it's likely that we're going to see a daring escape from the two Avengers to let go of his grasp.
