Ever since the first trailer for action-comedy Cocaine Bear debuted last year, we have been eagerly awaiting the film's release - and this week, it finally arrives.

The story of course is simple, “the bear, it f*cking did cocaine” as Alden Ehrenreich’s criminal Eddie neatly sums up. What more do you want from a movie?!?

What is perhaps a surprise to many is that this wild tale is inspired by the true story of an American black bear who ingested an impressive amount of cocaine in 1985.

However, whilst sadly that animal's body was discovered alongside 40 open containers which had been filled with the drug, Cokey - the star of Cocaine Bear - goes on a murderous rampage through the woods.

Once the credits start rolling you will already be craving a second dose, and that's something that screenwriter Jimmy Warden feels himself.

Now hooked on his own supply, Warden confirmed to Zavvi that he’d be keen to explore similar real life tales in the future, starting what he has now dubbed the 'Cocaine Cinematic Universe'.

Asked whether he’d like to adapt the story from 2019 about a group of feral hogs who destroyed a stash of coke valued at $22,000, Warden’s immediate answer is yes:

Cocaine Hogs would be pretty good. I’ve heard stories about cocaine found in the ocean, so maybe there are cocaine sharks. I’ve also heard about meth gators and cocaine hippos – it is endless and so much fun.

"As long as it stays fun and doesn’t get too sad, I’m in. The Cocaine Cinematic Universe is just beginning!” To which we say - bring it on!

Cocaine Bear is released in cinemas on 24th February.
