We are now only a month away from the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which will bring to a close Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Although Marvel are keeping quiet about Phase Four and the future of the franchise, we do know to expect Black Widow, The Eternals and Shang-Chi.

Black Panther, Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy will all be making welcome returns too, and it is highly probable Captain Marvel will also join that list.

Marvel Studios

The MCU will be different following the events of Avengers: Endgame, and although it will feature some familiar faces, we are excited to see some new ones too!

Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox will also likely have an effect, opening up the possibility of the X-Men and the Fantastic Four joining the line-up.

A recent report suggesting Keanu Reeves is in talks to star in The Eternals has excited us here at Zavvi, and got us thinking about what other actors we would like to see join the MCU...

Summit Entertainment

Kiernan Shipka as Spider-Gwen

Netflix

Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen was one of the stand out characters in last year's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and we wouldn't be surprised if the popularity of the character will encourage Marvel Studios to introduce her into the MCU.

Hailee Steinfied did a great job voicing the animated character, and while we think she would be an awesome Spider-Gwen in a live-action film too, Kiernan Shipka would also be perfect.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actor not only looks the part, but we can easily see her kicking ass alongside Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Adam Warlock

HBO

When Marvel teased us with a glimpse at a cocooned Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, people cheered and screamed in the cinema.

Fans have been waiting ever since for news of Warlock's return in the franchise, and although this hasn't arrived yet, they have already started thinking about who could play the all-powerful super-being.

At the top of that list for us is Jaime Lannister actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who, thanks to Game of Thrones recently ending, now has time to join another major franchise.

Kaitlyn Dever as Squirrel Girl

Annapurna Pictures

If you haven't seen Booksmart yet, go see it tonight, as it is arguably one of the best films of 2019.

Many aspects of Booksmart are worth celebrating, and one of these is Kaitlyn Dever's breakthrough performance, which is brilliant.

We will certainly be seeing more of Dever on the big screen in the future, and hopefully that includes the MCU, maybe as Squirrel Girl...

Steven Yeun as Shang-Chi

AMC

Destin Daniel Cretton is set to direct Marvel's first Asian-led film Shang-Chi, but the cast is yet to be announced.

Marvel should look no further than The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun though, who is reportedly being eyed up for the titular role.

It is possible Marvel would go with an already trained martial artist, but Yeun could train like many other MCU actors in order to do his own stunts.

Caleb McLaughlin as Miles Morales

Netflix

Caleb McLaughlin stole our hearts as Lucas in Stranger Things, and we think he could do the same as a young Miles Morales.

He has the acting chops, is the right age and has a promising career ahead of him, so we could certainly see Marvel casting him as the first live-action black Spider-Man.

Shameik Moore did a great job voicing the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse though, so he will have a tough act to follow.

Zachary Quinto as Namor

Paramount Pictures

The MCU will be needing a new super-villain following Thanos' death in Avengers: Endgame, and many fans want it to be Prince Namor, a.k.a. the Sub-Mariner.

But who should play him?

Zachary Quinto has proved himself as an actor in films such as Star Trek, and he has the skills to take on such a complex character. Also, those sharp eyebrows are perfect!

Bryan Cranston as Galactus

AMC

Bryan Cranston is a superb actor, that is a fact, and we would love to see to him join the MCU in any role to be honest.

Like Quinto, he too could be a fantastic super-villain, maybe as Galactus, a cosmic entity who consumes planets to sustain his life force.

As 'the one who knocks', Cranston can deliver a very intimidating performance, ideal for Galactus.

Joe Manganiello as Wolverine

HBO

While we understand Hugh Jackman really was perfect as Wolverine, with Disney buying Fox it surely won't be long until the popular mutant pops up in the MCU.

Jackman has left big shoes to feel, but we think Joe Manganiello is up to the task, especially with those glorious sideburns.

Of course the plan was Manganiello would play Deathstroke in the DCEU, but since no one is really sure what is happening with that now, can he be Wolverine please?

John Boyega as Blade

Lucasfilm

Ever since Marvel reacquired the rights to Blade, we have been waiting for a casting announcement as the popular character will surely appear in the MCU.

It would be great to see Blade back on the big screen, and Star Wars actor John Boyega in the role.

He was previously in talks with Marvel about an unknown role, so I really wouldn't rule this idea out.

Matthew McConaughey as Norman Osborn

Warner Bros. Pictures

Although rumours have circulated before about Matthew McConaughey taking on the role of Norman Osborn, a.k.a. the Green Goblin, they never came to fruition.

But please Marvel, can they?

Few actors are capable of making their villainous characters creepy yet both charming and sympathetic, and McConaughey is one of them.
