In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Once unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and becomes one of them.

Good but not a massive upgrade.
This is possible my favourite movie ever so I own it, or have owned it on almost every format it has been available (including Laserdisc). I think this is a good transfer but it lacks the slight bluish tinge that the older Blu ray steel book has and I kind of miss it. The picture clarity is not a massive upgrade but the lighting effects in the movie are improved. Happily they have kept the film grain as well.

Best 4K I Own
I was blown away by how good this film looks on 4K, there were some scenes that genuinely look like they could've been filmed today. I would strongly recommend buying the Thing on 4K Ultra HD.

A Masterpiece Looking More Beautiful!
Well what can you say about this masterpiece, that hasn’t already been said about it before? “The Thing” (1982) has been and will always continue to be my number one film of all time and the 4K picture transfer is out of this world (pun intended!). The detail is super sharp, you can even make out the mechanics of the puppets too, you could never say that about Blu-Ray. The HDR on the creatures is truly stunning, you can clearly make out a lot more colours and detail (such as the little veins on each one of them) on the creatures themselves. The only “Thing” (again pun intended!) that lets the package down are the small bunch of extra features and like another buyer has mentioned the sound. it’s very noticeable in the dog kennel scene, that they have clearly lowered the screaming human noises the creature makes when discovered by the men. On every format before, the screams were front and centre which made the scene even more creepier. But I would still highly recommend upgrading for the picture transfer alone, it’s the best it’s ever looked. Take care now!

The Thing 4k
Watch one of the greatest sci-fi horror movies ever made by legendary cult genre director John Carpenter in 4k. The difference in quality is noticable and this film has never looked better on any other format. If you're a fan, or simply want a gateway drug into cult horror, look no further than John Carpenter's 'The Thing' in 4k!
