Beautiful product let down by Packaging
4Really beautiful steel book. Genuinely one of the nicest I’ve ever seen. However, I ordered this along with the Hobbit steel book trilogy, both arrived in the same box, very little padding and as a result the steel books were severely damaged. I’m in the process of returning them which is a bit of a pain. The online chat is a bit naff. Takes days to complete a conversation and resolve an issue. So the product is brilliant. But whether it arrives in good condition is a gamble. A sizeable one given the cost of the box set.

Worth of waiting and good quality collection
5I’ve been collecting LOTR Trilogy since VCD era until now 4k ultra HD. Never disappointed with the movie. More details on the picture and really good sound when you have it with 7.1 home theater system. Love it so much !!

The definitive LOTR viewing experience
5Wow. Nothing prepared me for how stunning these films look and sound in 4K. It truly is like watching for the first time, and I say this having watched them countless times on DVD and blu-ray over the past almost two decades. These films hold up phenomenally. As for the steelbooks themselves, they're more beautiful than the listing would have you believe. They have a matte finish with shiny elements which really pop in the light. My only criticism is that the titles appear to be a lower resolution, they're not as sharp as the images, but it's not incredibly noticeable. The protective outer box is a godsend because for the price there's no way I can let them end up damaged. So happy I finally caught them during the recent restock. Next day delivery option was appreciated.

A high def return to middle earth
5Some of my favourite fins have had the 4K upgrade and although biased I have to say , they have done a great job , visually stunning , both theatrical and extended cuts are here in a stunning steel book box set pricey but a pleasure to behold

Great movies, excellent collectable edition
5By now everyone knows how good these movies so I'll not dwell on them, this review is about this particular edition of the trilogy. It is 3 beautiful steelbooks in a padded metal container that is also very pleasing on the eye however you arrange it on your shelf. A great edition for any fan to own.

Stunning improvement over the blurays
5Upgraded from my extended blurays box set and I'm so happy I did, where the blurays box set is brought down by its visual noise issue this 4k set is a beautiful clear viewing experience (and the steel book set is gorgeous). Well worth it!

Lovely set with service to match
5If you are reading this, you are probably already a fan of Peter Jackson’s cinematic tribute to Tolkien. So let us cut to the chase: this is the best that the trilogy has ever looked, you get both the Theatrical and the Extended versions, the three steelbooks are beautiful, and the box itself matches the books. Zavvi shipped this the moment the set became available, and it arrived well-protected by airbags, nary a dent or scratch. Buy it before it sells out!

Nice box set, terrible packaging
3This is one of the nicest box sets I own and my first entry into Lord of the Rings, the steelbooks are fantastic and the quality of the video and sound on the discs are great for the bits I've looked at so far. Zavvi's packaging needs to be improved, I had both this, and The Hobbit delivered in an oversized box with air packs wrapped around the sides of the box but nothing separating the collections and a gap in the middle, no protection on the top or bottom. The Hobbit arrived damaged, so I needed to return it.
