"Controversial upon its release, Ralph Nelson's Soldier Blue follows Honus (Peter Strauss) and Cresta (Candice Bergen), the only remaining survivors of a Cheyenne Native American attack, as they travel across the unforgiving wilderness of the American frontier in search of refuge. Their journey reaches a tragic climax as they witness the brutal and cold-blooded slaughter of the Cheyenne tribe at the hands of the U.S. army.
Reflecting the political climate of the time, Soldier Blue is uncompromising in its anti-war stance and in its extremely graphic depiction of the 1864 Sand Creek Massacre. By shedding light on America's dark history and the inhumane actions of the U.S. army, this revisionist western is one of the most radical films in American cinema's history."

Soldier blue
One of the most important films ever made. It's that important. It shows an unsavoury shameful period of American history. The film itself is so well made . All involved are superb. The 2 leads direction and writing are first rate but the star is the cinematography. Gorgeous steelbook.

Fantastic film
Enjoyed rewatching Soldier Blue , what a wonderful film it is and 54 years old. The 4k transfer is amazing as is the steelbook , I see the Blu-ray edition included art cards it would have been nice if they had also been included with the steelbook 😞 the only other downside is the lack of extras would have expected more. The movie and steelbook deserves a 5 just let down by lack of extras and art cards .

Soldier blue
Turned today must say one of the best looking steelbooks in my collection. The 5 stars is for the film and steelbook. Shame for such an important film the extras are a lot down. Surely a boxset with artcards poster and book would have given this film the respect it deserves.

Soldier Blue (Cult Classics) 4K Ultra HD SteelBook
This SteelBook edition shows number of discs as 2, whereas the more affordable 'standard' Blu-ray edition (with slipcase and art cards, and Blu-ray logo on the side), shows only 1 disc. Can I assume that the 4K UHD edition SteelBook also includes the Blu-ray copy? This greatly interests those of us, including me, who intend to transition... one day... but haven't yet. I have pre-ordered with this in mind. DVD to Blu-ray was an easy decision; VHS to DVD was a no-brainer (I had Soldier Blue on VHS!). 4K? well the clue's in the K (Four Star review in hope).
