IN THE LAST GREAT INVASION, OF THE LAST GREAT WAR, THE GREATEST DANGER FOR EIGHT MEN... WAS SAVING ONE.
Internationally acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, Saving Private Ryan, directed by Steven Spielberg, is an unforgettable film achievement that has had a profound and lasting impact throughout the world. Winner of five Academy Awards - including Best Director (Spielberg) - Saving Private Ryan also garnered two Golden Globe™ Awards for Best Motion Picture (Drama) and Best Director.
Seen through the eyes of a squad of American soldiers, the story begins with World War II's historic D-Day invasion, then moves beyond the beach as the men embark on a dangerous special mission. Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) must take his men behind enemy lines to find Private James Ryan (Matt Damon), whose three brothers have been killed in combat. Faced with impossible odds, the men question their orders. Why are eight men risking their lives to save just one? Surrounded by the brutal realities of war, each man searches for his own answer - and the strength to triumph over an uncertain future with honour, decency, and respect.

Phenomenal
Probably the best war movie ever to hit the screens, Had this on other formats but now added to the 4k collection, First of all this movie is phenomenal in 4k the picture quality is just unreal, Next the sounds that come from this movie is just out of this world, Overall I’m very happy with this purchase, Definitely would recommend this to anyone, you wouldn’t be disappointed.

So very good
I have had this film on VHS, DVD & Blu-Ray, now I have it on 4k UHD, and wow! The picture is amazing compared to blu-ray, and, if you have a decent sound set up, that is as good as the picture. If, like me, you thought there would only be minor improvements over a blu-ray, as that wasn't as impressive as the change when dvd took over from vhs, most 4k films change your mind, this is one.

Just epic
Saving private ryan is one of the greatest movies ever produced. Watching this in 4k - utilising dolby atmos and dolby vision i was amazed. The picture quality is nothing short of incredible and the sound using an atmos soundbar is beyond any expectations i ever had. For the age of the movie, the picture and sound quality belittles so many newer movies. This was the first movie i tested on my set up and it is by far the best! I would highly recommend the 4k version of the movie specially if you have dolby atmos and dolby vision set up.

2nd best WW2 film made imho
Great film only bested by " The thin red line " , but that a personal opinion. People that whine about film grain Obviously know nothing of film production and what Steven Spielberg was going for. He wanted that dated WW2 colour film effect, colour saturation and treatment was dialed right back to give it a dated washed out authentic look. After all it's based on D-Day and not the MCU. As for comments that the " lens flare was still there lol, Lens flare is not some mistake or a failure in filling BUT an ON purpose effect where light is shone into the camera then you get lens flare even 8k would still have it, JJ Abrams used to live that effect shine torches into cameras, it's a good effect to portray natural sunlight. Anyway enjoy the film for the classic it is , production, costume and especially sounds FX are first rate as are the actors.
