HE'LL TEAR YOUR SOUL APART.
Stephen King was once famously quoted as saying, "I have seen the future of horror... his name is Clive Barker." That future was realised in 1987 with the release of Barker's directorial debut Hellraiser.
Hedonist Frank Cotton (Sean Chapman) thinks he has reached the limits of earthly pleasure. But a mysterious puzzle box will take him further than he can possibly imagine, opening the doors to a dominion where pain and pleasure are indivisible and summoning the Cenobites, whose experiments in the higher reaches of experience will tear his soul apart. When he manages to escape, Frank returns to the world skinless and in need of help. Now his former lover Julia (Clare Higgins) must kill to make him whole again. But the Cenobites want Frank back, and there'll be hell to pay when they find him.
Introducing the world to the iconic Pinhead, Hellraiser became an instant genre classic upon release and remains one of the most frighteningly original visions in horror.

Hellraiser 4k is visually appealing
This 4K UHD version offers some really appealing levels of fine detail, and HDR and/or Dolby Vision noticeably expand highlights throughout the presentation, enabling more visible data in some of the scarier scenes in the attic (which may or may not be a good thing, depending on your squirm factor). Hellraiser features DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 and 5.1 tracks which struck my ears as interchangeable with the tracks on Arrow's old 1080 release (which featured an LPCM codec for its stereo version). Both of these tracks sound nicely full bodied, but the surround track beefs up the rather beautiful Christopher Young score, offering a more pleasant bed of sound that helps to elevate the overall sonic ambience. Some of the ooey-gooey sound effects are a bit more resonant in the surround offering as well. Dialogue is rendered cleanly and with good prioritization and there are no problems to report in terms of dropouts, distortion or even hiss. Definitely worth getting if you don't have one of the previous versions already.

Classic Remastered
Not a lot to say about this film that hasn't already been said but the main takeaway from this release is the great HDR upscale and brilliant extras. Highly Recommended
