Sid Meier's Civilization V (5)

As a huge fan of the Civilization series, I was a bit worried about Civilization V, and held back quite a bit before purchasing it, after hearing mixed reviews. All in all, I am pleased with it. They have removed some of the micro-management elements that I didn't like in Civilization IV, which I'm happy with, but in return there are more "automatic" things going on, that you can't control, so it takes a while to fully understand what's going on in your empire. The diplomacy is improved overall, in my opinion, but the info screen lack some of the control I got used to in previous games... I am a bit indecisive about battles. I am not yet sure whether I like or dislike the lack of being able to stack units, and the fact that you don't get the "nice" statistics battles that you had in Civilization IV, but it seems to work well, solving some of the annoying things from Civilization IV. There are some User Interface glitches which are annoying - often having me move units where I didn't want to, but I assume I will get used to it at some point. It's still an issue nonetheless. All in all, it's still the same addictive game, with better graphics and a somewhat simplified (but not oversimplified) game play. I really like it, and I definitely recommend it.

You won't get sleep

For a start this game is VERY addictive, you can easily loose a whole day/night playing this game, not only does it have amazing gameplay that keeps you hooked with its new hexagon grid map for tactical warfare, it also adds a whole bunch of new features including the new Civ states that can help with food/units, if you help them in return of course....and not to mention the cool new death robots that destroy anything in their path. While you're wiping the enemy off the face of the earth you can sit back and watch as this Civ game has never looked so beautiful, nukes explode and send a massive mushroom cloud up into the skies... or you can go the peaceful route, just watching the sun glisten in the sea as your fishing boats bring back the food increasing your cities chance to populate and grow. Whichever way you choose to play this game you will enjoy it. I strongly recommend this game. 5 stars.
