A classic role-playing game branches out with a new look, countless adventures and heroic battles. The game picks up 30 years after the first two games in the series left off. At the end of Golden Sun: The Lost Age, the heroes succeeded in bringing the world-healing power of the Golden Sun back to the world of Weyard. In the years since, the immense power of the Golden Sun has changed nearly everything. Continents have shifted. New countries have emerged. New species have appeared. But the world is now imperiled by a new threat. Psynergy Vortexes, which suck the elemental Psynergy from both the land and power-wielding Adepts alike, are spreading across the world. The new generation of heroes – the children of those from the previous games – are drawn into the mystery behind the vortexes, as they cross a chaotic world that is succumbing to a new evil.
Features:
- Amazing graphics and beautifully animated summoning abilities that span both Nintendo DS screens let players experience the game like never before.
- The story takes place 30 years after the final events of the second game, when the Golden Sun Effect occurred. The main characters are the descendents of the previous game's heroes.
- Intuitive touch-screen control has been implemented throughout the game, controlling character movements and the release of Psynergy – magical abilities with powerful effects over people and the environment. Touch control also streamlines battle commands and gives players a stronger tactile connection to the action on the screen.
- Players will explore a vast and beautifully rendered world where they will find many treasures, encounter dangerous creatures and manipulate objects blocking their path. Players will also hunt for and collect Djinn, mysterious elemental creatures used to summon powerful spirits in battle.

A Golden Sun
All RPG fans certainly heard the name before. Two games ago the Golden Sun saga was born in the Gameboy Advanced telling us the story of how alchemy was a necessary evil to the world. In this one we're launched into a new story with plenty of familiar faces. The game kept most of the features that made its ancestors great, memorable games. The story continues from where it stopped 30 years, in-game, ago. We play as the children of the former Warriors of Vale. Isaac, Garett, Ivan, Mia and more to see. We learn how alchemy restored balance to the world but ended up bringing the old problems back, such as people being intoxicated with power and causing wars to boom all over the land and after some comical events, we're launched into a simple task that promises to become a really long and strenuous campaign for our young heroes, Matthews, Tyrell and Karis. Graphics-wise the game remains true to its roots while using the DS' hardware to bring it up a notch. The animations for the summons and attacks look better than ever, keeping that Golden Sun feel, and making the bigger and better summons even more threatening and imposing. If you usually enjoy RPG soundtracks you'll love Dark Dawn's. The battles have a rather epic feel to them, and the town tunes often help you relax after a trek through the world map or a thrilling dungeon crawl. The dungeons start rather simple and get progressively more challenging as you go and each of them delivers a song that will stick with you for a while. As game mechanics are concerned you won't be disappointed for the most part. DJ'ing are a must in the saga and Flint is back! Who can ever forget the pudgy little critter that joined the original duo right off the bat? Synergy puzzles are back and they bring with them a few new mechanics such as shooting fireballs at targets or using wind to create temporary platforms. You also use an emote system which allows you to answer, though somewhat rudimentary, to some questions, giving our silent protagonist some more character. Sadly some options such as the arena from the first titles were left out and one can only hope they'll be back in the future. After all is said and done, it is a good game that stays true to its roots. Hardcore Golden Sun fans will surely enjoy it, and RPG fans have all the key features to indulge themselves in a great story with some memorable characters and scenes. It's a game I strongly recommend to everyone. If you're new to the series do not worry, the creators kindly give you a full background briefing right off the bat so you can just pick it up. If you're a fan already, one major reason to pick this gem up, Isaac with a beard! Ahem, jokes aside, great game for RPG fans.
