PS Vita (Wi-Fi Enabled)

I bought this PS Vita (Wi-Fi Enabled) for my partner's 30th. It's the best present I've ever given him and he was so happy to have it!

Outstanding system.

The PS Vita is the perfect handheld gaming system. It can be appropriate for any age group as the selection of games is incredibly diverse. It features cutting edge portable console technology, and currently has no match.

Great & Fun

The PS Vita (Wi-Fi Enabled) is the most powerful and functional handheld around. From gaming to remote control of PS3, to future proofing with cross play PS3 and PS4 games, this is a winner! Yes, memory cards can be overpriced, but everything else is brilliant. Quality, form and function are all here.

PS Vita

Great product, i thought long and hard before purchase, everything about it is great. Plays PSP games no problem. Highly recommended.

Got before Xmas rush.

Other than switching it on, connecting to internet for updates and a quick flick through the features, this PS Vita is now wrapped up for my son's Christmas present. It looks great, and I know he's going to love it!

Hardware 5* - Software 2*

The hardware is excellent, with a plethora of features which I'm sure gamers will soon find unique ways on implementing them. The OLED screen is beautiful and is very crisp (it does have some anomalies on black screens but I've read this is a problem with all vita screens). Unfortunately I cannot review the Vita without looking at software available for it as without games the device would be useless. And this is where the device falls a bit flat for me at the moment. Hopefully this will change when I get 'Little Big Plant' and 'All Stars Battle Royal'. This is something which takes time, which I braced myself for. The reason for the early purchase however was the 'so called' ability to play PS3 games on the vita through remote play by streaming it to the vita. However this feature does not function with PS3 games apart from 'ICO' and 'shadow of colossus' which was recently added and a handful of arcade games. Sony have blatantly lied about this feature. They have lost my respect for this and i will not be an early adopter of future product when they treat loyal customers like this. Pro's +Great Hardware +Well built and feels like a premium produce +Plethora or features Con's +Remote play doesn't work with virtually all PS3 games +Lack of games +Added purchase of memory card

PS Vita (Wi-Fi Enabled)

The PS Vita is, it's fair to say, the most advanced handheld gaming device yet to come onto the market, and whilst it's not the cheapest of similar bits of kit, it really is a joy to use. The screen is bright and clear, the touchscreen responsive and the whole thing feels both solid and very comfortable in your hands, despite the relatively small size of both buttons and twin joysticks. It also runs very smoothly (I've had only the tiniest bit of lag, whilst in some of the more intense sections of Gravity Rush) and I much prefer to use the web browser on the Vita than on my smartphone. There are also, for a device that's only been on the market six months, an impressive array of games available (both re-released PSP games and Vita exclusives) and even more soon to be released. Really, the only negative to the Vita is not even the cost of the device itself (which I think is very reasonable for what you get), but the cost of all the extras you'll feel compelled to buy to protect it!

PS Vita (Wi-Fi Enabled)

Great product - so many good things about it, with so many free games as well. I got this with Uncharted, and it's like having a portable PS3.

PS Vita (Wi-Fi Enabled)

Technically, the Vita is without a doubt the best handheld console there has ever been. Its performance and build quality is unmatched. The screen is fantastic, graphically the console is seriously impressive for a handheld and its no surprise it's going to be getting plenty of muti-platform games that the PS3 and 360 are getting. Audio quality is also very high and thankfully the speakers go a bit louder than the PSP ones. The XMB of the PS3 and PSP is replaced with the 'LiveArea' - which works in a similar way to the iPad's desktop. The touchscreen is required to navigate the LiveArea menus and most first party apps (like the PS Store, Trophies, Friends etc). I've never really been a fan of touchscreen gimmicky stuff, but after using this so much I'd find it difficult to go back now, it works really well and both the touchscreen and rear touch pad are very responsive. Initially the d-pad and face buttons (triangle, circle, cross, square) look small, but they actually work really well at that size. The face buttons don't seem as pressure sensitive as the ones on the PS3 pad, but I've yet to play a game that requires ssensitive use of these buttons anyway. The analog sticks are great, the controls in general have been really tight and easy to play on everything I've played so far and the Vita feels more comfortable play at its slightly bigger size than the PSP. Overall the console itself is brilliant. The quality of games is a lot more subjective, but there are a lot of great looking games on the way, including: Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, Persona 4 Golden, MGS HD Collection, Zone of the Enders HD Collection etc. And if you have a PS3 then remote play support is coming to games like ICO & Shadow of the Colossus. Definitely well worth the price - I bought this in June and was also given a pre-order pack free, which was a nice surprise, a pre-order code for some PS Store content and some really nice PlayStation earphones, so the deal here at Zavvi is well worth it.
