Heavy Metal At Its Finest
Five Finger Death Punch (otherwise known as ‘5FDP’ or ‘FFDP’) is a heavy metal band that was originally formed in 2005, based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. The band’s unique name stems from traditional kung fu cinema, specifically the 1972 movie ‘Five Fingers of Death’.
The band made their debut with the hit album The Way of the Fist, which was released in 2007. Selling over 500,000 copies in the US, this shot the rock musicians to prominence. The album would be followed up in 2009 with War Is the Answer, selling over 1,000,000 copies and achieving Platinum certification by the RIAA.
They have since released another five albums: American Capitalist (2011), The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell - Volume 1 (2013), The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell - Volume 2 (2013), Got Your Six (2015), and And Justice for None (2018). All of these, respectively, have been certified Platinum and Gold.
Across the band’s long history in the music industry, the line-up of members has changed on multiple occasions. In the earliest days of Five Finger Death Punch, the band was composed of vocalist Ivan Moody, rhythm guitarist Zoltan Bathory, bassist Matt Snell, lead guitarist Caleb Andrew Bingham, and drummer Jeremy Spencer.
Bingham would later be replaced by guitarist Darrell Roberts in 2006, who was subsequently replaced in 2009 by Jason Hook. In 2011, Chris Kael replaced Snell after he left in 2010.
Bathory eventually became the remaining founding member after Spencer moved on in 2018 due to recurring back issues, replaced by Charlie Engen. And the British guitarist Andy James replaced Hook as guitarist in 2020.
