St. Elsewhere charts the constant merry-go-round of the daily tales of personal and professional triumphs and failures of a team of medical staff which form the core of hospital life. Led by the sensitive but tough administrator, Dr. Donald Westphall (Ed Flanders) and Dr. Daniel Auschlander (Norman Lloyd), the traumas of the hospital staff happen both in and out of the emergency room as work issues and personal problems start to overlap.
