A masterpiece of political film
Nixon is one of the most enjoyable political films ever made. While it does not dwell in too much detail on the institutions and machinery of government it delves in great detail into the mind and character of Nixon and by implication the essence of what drives a politician and the political system. While you mostly see him as a bad apple who was effectively out of control and unloved, his achievements are recognised and there are flashes of his honour, guilt and the story combined with Hopkins' incredible performance will make the most convinced Nixon hater feel sympathy for him and reassess his legacy.
