Jazz History
For anyone with an interest in Jazz this four DVD box set is a must buy. I had seen part of the work on BBC TV who co-produced the series but to now have the entire series is great.

A phantastic overview of the history of Jazz
Kim Burns has produced some excellent documentaries in the past, like 'The West', the story of the US expansion all the way to the Pacific. While not in all details accurate and not very critical of some of the more cruel aspects, he succeeded in composing a coherent and entertaining documentary. With Jazz, he again gives an excellent overview of the history of this unique American musical style, touches on the high points and the 'Giants' of the genre. He lets the music and the musicians largely speak for themselves. If nothing else, this box set is an excellent introduction -- but it is also sure to whet the appetite for more: for a deeper appreciation of some of the Jazz Greats.
