After producing Stuart Gordon’s hit Re-Animator, Brian Yuzna (Bride of Re-Animator, Return of the Living Dead III) turned his hand to directing with 1989’s Society, and gave birth to one of the ickiest, most original body horror shockers of all time.
Teenager Bill Whitney (Billy Warlock) has always felt like the odd one out in his wealthy, upper-class Beverly Hills family. For some reason, he just doesn’t seem to fit in. But his sense of alienation takes a sinister turn when he overhears a surreptitious audio recording of his sister’s coming-out party, which seems to implicate his family and others in a bizarre, ritualistic orgy. And then there are the strange things he’s been seeing – glimpses of people with their bodies contorted impossibly out of shape… Is Billy going mad or is there something seriously amiss in his neighbourhood?
Packing stomach-churning grue and thought-provoking social commentary in equal measure, Society is a biting horror satire which culminates in one of the most leftfield, gag-inducing “climaxes” in all of horror history – just don’t eat beforehand!

Classic horror
The packaging and extras in this edition is excellent, includes the comic sequal as a book.. The film it self is a great throwback to when films could be original and interesting take on the class divides although all the effects are not amazing it does not spool the over all paranoia and the ending is not to be forgotten

Society - Product Review
A must own for all lovers of 80's horror flicks. Arrow have once again delivered in all areas for this product release. An amazing picture & sound transfer, heaps of extras, a neat graphic novel inclusion, all boxed in an amazing textured box with great artwork. The film alone is worth the purchase price, but the inclusions push this release up a level & then some. Totally worthy addition to your library. Thanks Arrow, and thanks Zavvi for getting it out & on my doorstep well within time!

IT’S ALL ABOUT FITTING IN!
Yet again Arrow Video has done an absolute amazing job on this cheesy cult classic from the 80's. The packaging alone is really great with amazing detail and gloss finish to make it look smiley and really stand out from other releases. The set contains a comic book that is easily a 100 page or more. 2 disc set of the film, one disc in Blu Ray and the other in DVD. Packed to brim with extras and Easter eggs for you to find. A small booklet full with amazing facts and details about the film. Plus a random postcard with art for one of there upcoming titles and also another postcard with the classic art cover for society with a mock up innovation to the club from the film and thanks for purchasing from Arrow Video. This set is worth every penny and well worth the upgrade to Blu Ray. "It is a matter of good breeding. Really."
