Worth waiting a lifetime for
Turn the clock back someone! Way back in 1968 film fanatics as with me were busy watching our 8mm cine film clips on home movie projectors and in the 70's this classic film for so many reasons became available on 8mm sound film. In later years we had Laser Disc releases, tape and DVD so its been a fun time owning all the formats of this film in many decades... Of all the Blu-Ray Steelbooks this has to be one of the most collectable with a tremendous case capturing the nostalgia of the film and those memorable on screen images. Having been through all the various issues of this over many a year it is truly great to see the film looking so crisp in 1.33.1 in pure black and white. We watched the making of first and it covers the film really nicely with the stars from the movie, lots of stills and of course Mr Romero. As Zombie films go this is where it started for me and the various remakes look pale by comparison, even in colour. Thank you Zavvi for having this on offer and my order made it just before the stock was exhausted. 10/10 all round. If a award was due for the best 60's Steelbook this should get it.

Absolutely Gorgeous!
This is the most gorgeous steelbook I own. No questions about that! I love the artwork. I love the quality of the Blu-Ray. I love this film! In fact, there isn't a single thing about this steelbook OR film that I don't like! This is a MUST HAVE for any film collector or horror buff out there!

A great classic got a well deserved steelbook release. Loving the original artwork and the transfer isn't too bad either.

Where it all began
The first in the epic Horror film franchise of the "Dead". George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead kicked off a spawn of many Zombi horror films. The steelbook Zavvi have had done looks great. The film itself is presented in it's original 16mm aspect ratio. meanning you get all the picture that was caught on film and not the cropped version that went on the 35mm blow up version for cinema release. The detail is really good, there's nice depth to the picture too. (providing you TV is set up correctly) There are 2 audio options. The nice DTS-HD Master 2.0 mono and the Original audio. I watched it with the original audio as I had never seen it before and wanted an authentic experience of being a first time viewer and that is what I got. A great film I have to say. Though it could have been filmed in colour. I'm glad it was done in Black and White. It makes the special effects that are modern for it's time seem even more advanced, as you feel like you're watching an old 50s horror but with much better effect. Well worth adding to your collection even if you are just starting out with the Horror film genre.

Perfect steelbook design for the film that started it all. The film is a classic rightly so, it has dated remarkably well for what was a low budget film. Politically & socially it is still very pertinent, but that is what makes Romeros' Zombie films special. The transfer is excellent, the film is the best it has ever looked & there is a fantastic feature length documentary. All we need now is for Zavvi to release Romero's Dawn of the Dead as a Steelbook & we'll have all three.

Steel Of The Living Dead
Yet another edition of George A. Romero's Night Of The Living Dead you cry? Oh yes,but this steelbook is outright stunning.The steelbook blu-ray features the seminal poster art from the 1968 horror classic.The disc itself has a fantastic looking HD transfer of the film,the best the film has ever looked on a UK release.The sole extra feature is the excellent 90 minute documentary "Another One For The Fire". If you haven't yet seen the original Night Of The Living Dead or are looking to upgrade your old Night Of The Living Dead DVD then I recommend Zavvi's cool blu-ray steelbook edition.

Night of the living dead bluray steelbook.
My all time favourite films are the Romero zombie films. Luckily zavvi have released the steelbook versions of the night and day of dead. All I need now is for zavvi to do dawn of the dead. The steelbooks are superb. Thanks zavvi.

classic horro
who ever said that black and white are no longer needed in movies nowadays. this piece of classic horror started it all. this is the original zombie horror movie, which is rather convincing in its days and shows it age, but then again it is almost 50 years old and stars a lot of relatively unknowns. the next part in the sage dawn of the dead is still the best sequel to this movie. best watched in the dark and even though it is kinda cheesy, still has the claustiabphobia-ness of it all.
