Stare Into These Eyes... discover deep within them the unspeakable terrifying secret of Black Sunday... it will paralyze you with fright!
Legendary Scream Queen Barbara Steele (Shivers, Caged Heat) stars in this classic slice of gothic terror from the father of fantastic Italian cinema Mario Bava (Lisa and the Devil).
A beautiful witch is sentenced to death for her evil deeds by her own brother, condemned to die by having a metal mask hammered onto her face before being burnt at the stake. As she passes, she puts a terrible curse on all her future descendants as the spikes of the death mask pierce her flesh... But when two unwitting travellers discover her final resting place and worse, drip blood on her resting corpse, they unleash her once again in all her stunningly beautiful, terrifying glory....
Banned in the UK on its release, Black Sunday is a groundbreaking film that opened the door for Spaghetti horror in all its gory glory.

Brilliant - Bava at his best
I loved this movie. It is certainly one of Bava's best although it was made in 1960. Great performance by Barbara Steele. Fantastic steelbook package and excellent print by Arrow video. Highly recommended.

Black Sunday - Product Review
Amazing. Simply amazing. Possibly my favorite zavvi steelbook purchase so far. Outstanding artwork, volumes of content, neat-o booklet, a great price tag, and delivered well within the quoted time frame. 3 different versions of Black Sunday. A fantastic inclusion of Bava's first film, I Vampiri. Interviews with Barbara Steele. And a super-sweet booklet with well written reviews and loads of photos. What more could you want? All wrapped up in a steelbook with Barbara Steele's eyes beckoning you... Shame I couldn't give it more stars! Thanks zavvi, another awesome steelbook release.

Black Sunday steelbook! O...M....Gd!
A stunning steelbook! Absolutely worth every penny. Arrow Video have done a great job putting this legendary and groundbreaking gothic horror movie out there in a steelbook. This is one of six that celebrate Arrow Video's fifth birthday, and a welcome part to the set, for sure. Mario Bava's black and white gothic masterpiece, Black Sunday, captures the essence of what gothic horror should be. Many have tried since, but never come close to Bava's template. Creepy atmosphere, dark passageways, cobwebbed crypts, unusually graphic in places - its all here. Although my one gripe would be the romantic score that plays quite often throughout, to emphasise love interest in the film - for me, got a bit tedious at times. But, that aside, this is a one of a kind movie, visually stunning, gothic horror. The blu ray? Yeah, likely the best this movie will ever look. And crisp, clear audio too. A top notch presentation by Arrow here, packaged up in a breathtaking steelbook - YOU DO THE MATHS!!

Amazing steelbook
One of Mario Bava´s best movies gets an amazing steelbook release. The Arrow video Blu-ray is the best presentation this movie has ever had. And the steelbook is perfect with its use of the original artwork. If you like the movie you must simply own this release.
