Originally Developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Interactive in 2006, Tomb Raider: Legend was a huge critical and commercial success, with the designers updating Lara's looks to better reflect her skills, personality and motivation. Lara must use a plethora of different tools and equipment to spelunk to depths of gameplay that until that had remained unexplored by gamers worldwide.
Tomb Raider: Anniversary, inspired by the very first game in the series, was itself a critical success, described by Eurogamer as being "blessed with an excellent control system and chock full of masterfully designed levels, as far as puzzle based action adventures go, there have been none finer". Indeed the game can be considered a fantastic way to replay the original for those who never encountered it, or blissful dose of nostalgia for those who did.
Rounding off the collection, Tomb Raider: Underworld follows directly on from Legend. Introducing new and exciting gameplay features like a dual-target system, an improved inventory system, a grappling hook and a sonar-based map. With excellent motion-capture and a more non-linear style of gameplay. Underworld marks an essentially important chapter in the development of the franchise.
